Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. There is no noticeable freshness or born on date on the bottle. Appearance: The body has a dark black look with a very dark reddish brown hue when held up to light. On top is a tan colored foamy head. It slowly fades down to a thin wisp covering that makes some slick lacing. Smell: Its aroma has dark bready notes with some dark roasted and chocolaty barley malt. Hop notes are very mild and add a very light herbal quality to the overall aroma. Taste/Palate: There is a dark bready base with lots of dry, roasted, toasted and chocolaty maltiness. There is a very mild toffee like sweetness underneath that I really like. Hop flavor is well balanced for the style and adds plenty of dry herbal notes to the mix. It finishes very dry with dark chocolaty, toasted and very light coffee notes. The palate has strong medium body with a smooth texture and mellow carbonation. Notes: This is just a good solid Porter. It is very enjoyable, very sessionable and easily my favorite beer from the Cooperstown Brewery.

The look is glassy dark brown, almost purple in the darkest spot. Large cardboard brown head. Some light comes through at the edges. Big milky swath of film/lace. Smell is coffee with just a bit of mustiness. Some sweet, dark caramel. Hint of bitter dark chocolate. Malt is only lightly roasted. Nice dry, bitter character to the aroma. The taste is a bitter coffee blast to start off. Second flavor is sweeter, though the bitter aftertaste remains. It’s a really nice balance. Roasted and also smoky. The feel is extremely dry, with a bitter afterbite and film. A tad milky even. Hefty, and not at all watery. This is a smooth-sipping beer. A nice, sturdy porter. Really really enjoyable.

Pours a dark reddish black, with a thick lasting white head. Aroma is very roasty and malty, with just a hint of aroma hopping and a little woodiness. Flavor is very bold and robust. Roasted malts take center stage, with a bit of nuttiness andmild hopping providing a clean dry finish. Well carbonated, but it works with the flavors involved, I think. Very well done and thoroughly enjoyable.

This beer rocks! Beautiful, sparkling clear, ruby/burnt orange ale with a medium-sized, creamy, light beige head. Terrific retention and thick, creamy, weeping lacework. Milk chocolate and vanilla in the aroma and flavor. Some minor toasted nuts in there as well. Well-bittered for perfect balance. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish! Definitely world class stuff! This beer should get up off the bench and bat cleanup!

Dark brown color with a nice beige head. The aroma was spicy...chocolate, malty sweetness, a slight hops bitterness. The flavor was full...coffee, chocolate, caramel. The finish is dry witha crisp hops kick. Pure silky creamy thick feel...very stout like. Wonderful big porter.

This porter had the most incredible mouthfeel I can remember in a porter. Slick and silky. The body was brown and copper with a thick khaki head. The aroma was roasted with coffee and some fresh bread. The taste was chocolate and mild coffee. This is a very good brown style porter.

This is one of the best english brown porters Ive had in a while. I had this on tap at the Ommegang belgian fest ’04. Nice dark brown color and lasting head. Lots of chocolate malts and no roastiness which is what I love in a porter. Sweet and smooth finish. Awesome.
