kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 24, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy brown head. Very chocolaty and roasty nose with some licorice root, cocoa powder, and espresso. Tastes a little on the drier side with a good bit of acrid burnt malt on the finish. A little too thin throughout. Where’s that lovely chocolate and licorice that was in the aroma? Mouthfeel is thin bodied and has no real texture to it at all, it makes for a boring drink. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Not a good stout by any means, the more it warmed the more acrid it got too. CanIHave4Beers (835), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 13, 2009 Pours a very dark color with a medium head and decent enough lace. The aroma is coffee and dark roasted malts. The flavor has lots of good coffee and dark chocolate notes with a good hoppy finish. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Oct 6, 2009 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with no obvious lot code or expiration date. It pours a dark brown with an overwhelming foamy tan head. I do not believe I shook the bottle before hand but it sure looks like it with the pour. The aroma is of roasted malts and cocoa. The roasted, chocolate malts and muted but noticeable hops merge to make this a sweet but fairly bold flavor. Pretty decent brew. williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Jul 29, 2009 The appearance is severely carbonated, especially for style. It took me two volcano-overflow pours for me to finally get it right. The head shinks very fast. The color is a deep brown; very nice hue. The head eventually evaporates completely. The aroma is gritty oatmeal and mild chocolate. Dark raisin and plum on the second wave. Mocha adds more chocolatey goodness. Both sweet and dry in the nose. The taste is sweet plums and bitter grape. The chocolate emerges and eventually takes over. Except for a minor coffee bean, there is almost no bitter bite. A hint of vanilla bean. The feel is somewhat ashy on the palate, but then smooth. Thin-bodied for a stout, but milky. The beer overall is lots of chocolate, and a little sweet berry. A pretty decent sweet stout. gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Jul 14, 2009 Had this one bottled at the brewery in Milford, New York. Oily dark brown pour, molasses and soy sauce nose, barbecue sauce, coffee, chocolate, nutty, and complex. Great! Maddog (231), Kettering, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2009 Funny isn’t it, the name Strikeout? This stout is a strikeout, certainly not a hit. The aroma is cocoa and the appearance is very dark, but the head fizzles away quickly emphasizing the very thin body. The flavor is light roasted malts and some chocolate, but again this is pretty bland and lifeless with no finish to speak of. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Apr 14, 2009 I see I am not the only one who got a bottle with RIDICULOUS amounts of carbonation. Dark pour wtih way too much tan head. Aroma smells of overripe fruit wtih some roast. Flavor is well it strikes out. The carbonation ruins it. The whole thing was a mess. Time to put in a relief pitcher for this one. No hall of fame on the first ballot here. (Rating #2109)
