Commercial Description:
Coors Brewing Company celebrates the holidays with Winterfest - the nation's longest-running seasonal brew. Brewed once a year, in celebration of the season, Winterfest is a handcrafted brew that has earned Coors much recognition. Prior to its broader availability, Winterfest was enjoyed almost exclusively by the Coors family, company employees, and their friends. In 1986, Coors expanded the tradition of Winterfest to include the entire state of Colorado. The response was so enthusiastic that, every year since, Coors has offered the special winter brew in limited quantities and packages. Winterfest is available on draught and in six-pack longneck bottles, from early November through January, depending on how long supplies last. Winterfest is the perfect beer to toast a new season or a new year. 190 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.6% alcohol by volume.

Pours dark crimson with a thin wispy tan head. Mild aroma of medicinal phenols and toffee. Taste is grainy and astringent, phenolic and just plain nasty. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Drain pour, very bad.

This one came courtesy of thedm and hotsuff. Amber body with almost a hint of honey gold to it. Off white head and a little bit of lacing. Aroma was a mix of caramel and sugary malts. The taste was a bit bitter, with some malts and a bit of sweetness too.

12 oz bottle purchased at City Market in Burlington, VT (Jan 2006), drunk at a bit above fridge temperature from a 12 oz Michelob glass. Frothy, large-bubbled head actually leaves visible residue as it decays slowly above the dark, very clear amber body....light grainy nose offers just a hint of caramel and smoke, quite weak....body lightly sweet at first, touch of dry herbs, faint malty but quickly turning very thin, attenuated to the point of nothingness at the finish, no sugar or body and no aftertaste whatsoever...if there’s anything, it’s a sort of artificial caramel-saccharine character that is rather unpleasant though not horrific. Good for this brewer I guess, but not much above a drain pour.

At first I thought, "No. Really?" So in a mix six packer I thought I’d throw it in. And it belongs somewhere in a crappy mixed six packer. Cola color. Fizzy. Vague malt flavors. Rye bread taste. Sort of like burnt toast. Considering their "Light" beer is terrible, this is quite a step up for the organization. However, it still lacks any punch or flavor. It’s a toss away.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small tan head. Scents of malt and sweetness. Some spice on the palate, but not overpowering. Somewhat watery, but all in all not a bad beer especially coming from Coors

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear red pour with a thin tan head. Looks just like its picture. Slight malty and fruity aroma with a touch of spice. Sweet and malty flavor with a crisp finish and a slightly hoppy and floral finish. Watery with lots of carbonation.

Pours crystal clear amber with thin off-white head. The nose is faint corn adjunct. The flavor is very mild crystal malt and a small amount of dark malt smokiness. Almost no hops character. Finishes with a hint of smoke that seems almost artificial. No aftertaste. Very clean, very smooth, very boring.
