Commercial Description:
Coors Brewing Company celebrates the holidays with Winterfest - the nation's longest-running seasonal brew. Brewed once a year, in celebration of the season, Winterfest is a handcrafted brew that has earned Coors much recognition. Prior to its broader availability, Winterfest was enjoyed almost exclusively by the Coors family, company employees, and their friends. In 1986, Coors expanded the tradition of Winterfest to include the entire state of Colorado. The response was so enthusiastic that, every year since, Coors has offered the special winter brew in limited quantities and packages. Winterfest is available on draught and in six-pack longneck bottles, from early November through January, depending on how long supplies last. Winterfest is the perfect beer to toast a new season or a new year. 190 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.6% alcohol by volume.

2005 bottle consumed on 12/8/05. Pours a respectable clear auburn-amber, with some light golden tints and a large but mostly diminishing (quickly) off-white head that is bubbly. Obviously the same level of filtration and carbonation as any other Coors product. The aroma is surprisingly hoppy. Floral, wintergreen and green tree-bark like notes, with a light toasted malt in the background, hint of caramel and otherwise just hops. Initial hop aroma is of moderate strength, but soon, I’m left wondering where all of the aroma went. Nonetheless, no flaws at all detectable in the aroma. Flavor is not what I expected, but what I should have expected. Fully attenuated almost, there is little to no sweet malt. Why I would expect anything but near complete attenuation from these guys is beyond me. It certainly needs some residual sugar, as the body is medium-light to light, though again, why am I surprised? They try to run a fine-line between making this a mass-market product but just leaving a little appeal for more than the mass-market drinker. Toasted grains, terribly filtered body, hint of caramel and light chocolate. Nutty. Overcarbonated, watery texture, but drinkable. No alcohol or yeast apparency.

Pours with a tan, long lasting head. A nice amber color, but NO nose, no aroma. Toasted malt, a bit of hops in back. Other than that....

Pours a clear amber. Aroma is sweet malt/caramel. Flavor has a touch of chocolate, not a bad winter beer.

Pour is a nice clear brown-red with a white head. Aroma is nice and burnt caramel malts. Flavor is very nutty and roasted. Caramel also makes an appearance in the flavor as well. I am very impressed by this brew! Tasty and very satisfying. I will have to seek out more of this. This could be my fav beer by macro brewer.

Who’d of thought that these guys could make something darker then straw colored.Dark amber color, small white head that faded quickly leaving nothing behind. The aroma was mildly malty maybe some burnt caramel and semi sweet. The flavor was malty and caramel with a bit of a hop taste and also a slight hop bitterness in the end.Theres actually a slight hop after taste to go with the caramel.Unreal that these guys finally got sort of close but still not quite there. It’s drinkable but nothing special and hopefully these guys keep trying.

Bottle. Clear burnt orange with a thin beige head. Sweet grainy aromas with some flowers and hairspray. Tastes initially sweet with a little toasted caramel and then a flowery bitterness comes in. Flavors are very subtle and soon forgotten after the quick dry finish. Not too exciting.

From a bottle that mentions nothing about the Sandlot Brewery: Good looking pour, a deep amber body with a tall & sustained light beige head, this is the first of C’s brews that I’ve had that had much flavor to it. The aroma is a slightly nutty caramel with a waft of earthy hops. The malt is more toffee-like in the flavor, the bitter nut taste increasing, the earthy hops receding. The finish is mildy bitter. A surprising entry from C.

Pours an attractive dark clear mahogany with a thick off-white head. Light aroma of kilned malts and caramel. Flavor has notes of toasted malt, bread, caramel, a touch of roastiness and some light floral hops. Moderately sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and subtle carbonation. Overall not bad, but very boring.
