Commercial Description:
Coors Brewing Company celebrates the holidays with Winterfest - the nation's longest-running seasonal brew. Brewed once a year, in celebration of the season, Winterfest is a handcrafted brew that has earned Coors much recognition. Prior to its broader availability, Winterfest was enjoyed almost exclusively by the Coors family, company employees, and their friends. In 1986, Coors expanded the tradition of Winterfest to include the entire state of Colorado. The response was so enthusiastic that, every year since, Coors has offered the special winter brew in limited quantities and packages. Winterfest is available on draught and in six-pack longneck bottles, from early November through January, depending on how long supplies last. Winterfest is the perfect beer to toast a new season or a new year. 190 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.6% alcohol by volume.

The 12 ounce bottle poured a clear deep reddish amber beverage with an ample smooth off-white head that was mostly diminishing and average to poor lacing on the glass. The aroma was fully malt centric with the most prominent contributions coming from sweet caramel with some back notes of grass and earth. The body was medium with average carbonation and a watery texture. The flavor started off lightly sweet and gradually took on a light bitterness through the medium length finish. This is a load better than Coors light.

Pours a four finger cream head that fades quickly to a ring leaving a good lace. Crystal clear amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Slight malty nose. Starts with a slight sweetness, balanced with slight bitter finish, more like a brown. Far better than their lager. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Capital Convenience Concord, NH.

Light amber color with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and sweet sugary malts. Flavor is sweet and grainy with a bitter finish.

Pretty dark and flavorful for Coors. Unfortunately it is not a taste I enjoy. Sweet and spicy with a bitter finish. The first couple sips are okay but gets old very quick. Would hate to have to drink a large quantity of this.

Coors Winterfest 12 oz bottle Medium pour in a tulip glass Best before 01/07, barely bested 01/07 Poured a clear dark red with a fizzy light brown mostly lasting head. Smelt moderate brown sugar, mixed nuts, toasted malt, spices and dirt. Taste was upfront moderate bitter dirty grain, mixed nuts spices and soy followed by a strong bitter awkward grain skin on a short finish. Palate was light bodied, watery, lively carbonated and slightly astringent. There is something way off here. It tastes too much like grain-seeped well water. The old wells that are infected by God knows what. It’s not unbearable, just awkward.

Dark amber with big tan head. Candy aroma is light, but decent with a hint of carmel and hops. Taste is malty, but watered down, like the mouthfeel. $2/12oz

Amber color. Poor aroma. The flavor is ok, with just a lot of caramel, and correct bitterness. Easy.
