ClarkVV (3550), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Oct 26, 2003 Served in a snifter, great appearance actually, nice 2 inch head that lasted for a long time. Deep brown/black, lots of lacing. Aroma is quite hoppy and has tons of alcohol. Begins somewhat soft and sweet, though medium acidic. Lots of hops jump in, cascades? I think so. As it warms, the malt flavor dies off and the hops flavor dominates and adds a very bitter element. At this point it would be a decent barley, but the more it warms, the more the alcohol comes out. Has a huge acidic, bitter sharp resiny alcohol flavor that completely detracts from the flavor. Malt is nowhere to be found now. Still, decent body on it, dosent water down badly, but just way way way too much alcohol. Needs some hops variation as well. Not complex.
