Commercial Description: Belgian ale with cinnamon and nutmeg.
Our newest seasonal is called Snickerdoodle (yes it is named for the Christmas cookie, which it somewhat tastes like). This beer is what Christmas candles should smell like. It was brewed with Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Clove, Honey, and Dates. It was brewed in the Belgian Strong Ale style (the Belgian yeast that I used imparts hints of banana, bubblegum and strawberries), it rings in at 9% abv. The brewmaster left a little bit unfermented to give it a bit of a sweetish character to go with its Christmas cookie character. It reminds one of a mulled cider.
hand-pull at the brewery. Murky amber with a slight off-white head. Spicy wintry aroma of wassail and rum, like a sweetened version of a captain’s and rum. thick and sweet body, with a gritty cinnamon finish - dry not in the palate, but dry like the way your mouth feels after eating a teaspoon of cinnamon. not sickly sweet and not over-spiced, but far from balanced. a nice winter warmer.
