Aroma of spice, malt, fruit, yeast. Taste is a sweet fruit, with spice, and yeast. Mouth is smooth. Finish is also smooth. Not a bad brew. Cask contained good amount of coriander. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 1, 2008 On tap. Pours a deep, deep red with a fast fading whitish head. The aroma has hints of basement, baking spices, and distinct sweet cherries. The palate on this is sticky which makes the pronounced sweet character a little much. Cherries are all over the flavor with modest esters for balance which makes me think of pie crust and cardamom. A vanilla note is present throughout. This one became pretty tough towards the bottom of the pint glass. The sugary cherry flavor approached that of medicine. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2006 2005 GCBC. Coppery brown pour with a medium sized head. Caramel malty aroma with spice, and some subdued Belgian yeast notes. More sweet caramel malty flavors, with some estery medium dark fruits and more notes of that yeast character. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 28, 2005 On tap at the 2005 GCBC: Clear deep copper color with a well-lacing off-white head. Heavy spiced caramel musky aroma has some bready yeast character. Body starts with a grainy malty sweetness, a touch of fresh hops and a drier earthy finish. An interesting Belgian ale, but could use some more sweet malty balance. TheBeerOrg (1586), Kentucky, USA

Aroma is toasted malt, coriander, and apricot. Taste is sweetish malts, raisin, and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with mild carbonation. Doesn’t taste like any dubbel I’ve had. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA
