Very good retention slowly leaves thick, creamy lacing behind. The aroma is nutty and a touch chocolaty with less pronounced earthy and minerally notes. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The flavor leans nicely toward the bitter side of balance, but chocolate and medium-roast malts keep this beer highly drinkable for those, like me, who don’t necessitate an overly bitter beer. Crisp, lightly grassy, refreshing finish. glennmastrange (859), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Tap. Moderate malt aromas of light bread and cereal, light herbs and dough for the hops and yeast, with a faint hint of dried cherry in the background. Head is creamy, white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is medium brown with a red tint. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, a little slick and has a lively carbonation. Good smelling and good tasting, this is an easy drinking Altbier.
