Pint. Pours a relatively clear dark amber. Terrific toasted malt nose with some light fruit notes and a bit of vanilla caramel. More malt forward then most american marzen’s this is much more in the german style. Reminds me a bit of Ayingers but darker. Big toasted grains and lots of caramel with a crisp hop finish and perfectly balance carbonation, maltiness and bitterness. A really great example of the style.

Bottle… Hazy burnt-orange lager with a big, wispy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma is all about caramel and toasted nuts with only a small splash of dark sherry. Medium to full-bodied with prickly carbonation. The flavor offers caramely, nutty goodness. Hearty and rich. Malty, but balanced. Short, crisp (but still) malty, finish.
