hazed vibrant brownish orange with a frothy white head and clingy lacing.
herbaceous nose with notes of caramel, grain, slight pine, flowers, earthy spice and citrus pith numbing qualities.
the flavor is almost the same... add in grass, earthy hops and grapefruit pith... a little sweet and flat up front with a killer parchingly hoppy bitter finish to make me forget about that other negative stuff that just happened!
medium bodied, crisp, clean, bitter and easy to finish (three or four). 7/3/7/4/15/3.6 Taverner (825), San Ramon, California, USA Apr 10, 2009 Nice leathery malt textures and flavors. The hops are muted, but that works for this English IPA. Pours a cloudy amber with white head. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Apr 4, 2009 On-tap at the brewery. Pours cloudy, yellow/orange with a large, creamy white head and thick, sticky lace. Smells cereal malty with a mellow, earthy hop smell, slight citrus. Tastes cereal malty up front with a dose of hop bitterness and citrus in the middle and a cereal malt finish. Pretty tasty for sure. Medium body, good carbonation. Snojerk321 (1914), San Diego, California, USA Mar 24, 2009 On tap @ the brewery. Tied for #1 Coronado rater with this one!....haha Pours a very hazy deep yellow with a light orange glow, head was off white and about 2 fingers thick. Aromas of herbal hops, bananas and some citrus. Flavor was crisp with a nice bitter finish. I’m usually not a fan of English IPA’s, but, this one really worked for me. BrotherGrendel (545), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Feb 25, 2009 Light orange hue, hazy, decent amount of sustaining white head. Nose is resin, grass, floral, bubblegum. Flavor is high hop bitterness with moderate grass and earth, light grapefruit, chalk, finishes very dry and bitter. A great English style IPA with high bitterness and subtle hop flavors.
