Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt and chocolate, as well as medium notes of straw, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish.

22 fl oz bottle, courtesy of Dr Bill. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is solid coffee and roasted malt. Mild acidic dark chocolate note. Solid citric bitter and roasted chocolate with a distinct coffee herbal note. Smooth and chocolate bitter with a solid coffee herbal note into the far finish.

On tap @ Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens 01.04.09. Dark chestnut brown, nearly no head. Aroma and flavour of roast, coffee, and chocolate. Vegetal traits. Medium-bodied and a little too briskly carbonated. Dry finish.

(11/2/08) Draught sample at Hamilton’s in San Diego. Black-colored with a light brown head. Roasty aroma with coffee. Sweet roasty flavor with malt, coffee, light fruity notes. Continues bitter and roasty. Medium-bodied. A pleasant Stout.

Reviewed 12/30/2008 (Draft @ Stone Bistro & Gardens, Escondido, CA): Pours a coffee black color body. Smallish light tan head. Strong chocolate taste, and a little roasted coffee. Roasted coffee taste, some dark chocolate. Somewhat watery palate.
