Tap @ Hamilton’s. "Monkey Brown" on the board. Coronado likes to change the names of their beers after they have been out for a while, lame names at that. Pours medium brown with a one finger thick off white head. Nice nutty nose with some toasted malts. Crisp nutty flavor, a very good session beer.

(Draft: Coronado Brewing Co. in Coronado, CA) Mmmm, tasty! Lots and lots of chocolate here, like drinking a liquefied chocolate bar. Medium sweet and moderately roasty, but fairly light in bitterness or hoppiness. Wow, the chocolate really stands out though. The nose is sweet and chocolaty, but isn’t as aromatic as it is flavorful. Medium in body and well-carbonated on the palate. Medium-dark shade of ruddy brown, sort of a mahogany in color, but the bar is too dark to really gauge the color accurately. Light-tan head is fairly small on the pour and settles to a small ring. Overall, it’s simplistic in approach, like most brown ales, but it’s still quite enjoyable and an excellent surprise given my general state of apathy toward Coronado Brewing. One of the best beers on tap at the brewpub.

This beer was my favorate beer when I was a Recon Marine in coronado. It pours with a nice rich dark color. Nice head with a rich malty coffee chocolate aroma. Taste is a nice malty but bitter chocolate coffee flavor. Drink a few of these and you will know it vary quickly.

On tap @ Coronado. ’Uptown Brown’. Poured a dark black with a brown head. Chocolate aroma and tastes. Light coffee bitterness. Reiminded more of a Porter than a Brown ale.

Very tawny in color. Liquor on the nose. Surprisingly soft on the palate, and very warm going down.

Dark brown appearance, fairly clear. Damp malty, slightly chocolaty aroma. Good roasty flavor, plenty of chocolate, moderate hop bite in the finish. I must have been there on a good day as the bartender told me it was better than it was on Friday?

Beautiful deep chestnut color with an easily replenished tan head. Subdued nutty nose (to Subdued IMO) with hints of nuts and fruit. Very interesting soady, spicey aspect in this one followed up with touches of toastiness and a restrained bitterness. Gets a little metallic in the finish however.
