Bomber. Strong caramel aroma. Accompanied by something that does indeed suggest soy sauce. Well soy sauce is fermented, so why not. Deep amber color with a decent, but departing, beige head. Seems a bit thin bodied. Mild, creamy carbonation. It’s got that red roast malt flavor. The malt is strong, and there is very little hop to balance it. There is bitter around the edges, and at the finish after the malt drains off. No question that it is an amber ale. It is flavorful. Just very sweet.

The Dan Journal #21. Tasted 5/30/06. 22oz bomber. Dull brown with a reddish tint. Caramel and soy sauce aromas. Musty and cocoa. Bready and biscuit flavors. Hoppy effervescence. Citrus and medium bodied. easy!

Draft at brewery. Enjoyed this offering very much. Dry hopped with cascades, the brew is dark red in appearance, with a solid creamy white head- good retention and lacing. Very well balanced, malty and smooth drinking with some citrus hops. Good session brew.

Draft At Manchester Grand Hotel, SD, CA. Poured a clear dark amber with a moderate frothy white head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate balanced sweet malt and floral hoppy aroma. Medium body. Medium sweet flavor with a small bitter finish of average duration. This was better than my expectations.
