Malty and plain, like you’d expect, but drink it before it gets too warm, or there’ll be nothing but the malt flavoring. WeeHeavySD (3016), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 20, 2006 Draft. The brew pours a deep amber brown with a light small thin head. The aroma is slightly malty but otherwise not at all recognizable. The brew is overall drinkable with a light not too malty taste. It is decent but in no ways great. alafito (334), tijuana, Mexico
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 16, 2006 Draft at the Brewery, I guess this is the best brew i had here all night and it aint that good! Too bad cause its a really nice place, good food too. The best part about this beer was the appearance. Ruby red with some caramel colors too it, small creamy head. Looks real good, but like the rest of there brews, lacking in taste and aroma... metalic finishes and dry astringent aftertaste. Id go to this place way more if they just had one good ale to choose from. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 18, 2006 22oz bottle poured dark red with aromas of carmel and chocolate. Taste is smooth with a noticable chocolate and little hops. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Pours a deep red with a medium head. Aroma of sweet carmel malts and hops, nicely balanced. However, that is the best I can say about this beer. The taste of this beer is dry and astringent, with a metallic aftertaste. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Minimal aroma of toasted malt. Reddish amber in color with slight head. Minimal flavor of a red ale - yes there is some caramel, slight cherries, and a slight hoppiness. But this beer has no punch. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2006 This was the surpise of the night for me. 22 oz bomber. Dark red in color with a nice head. Aromas were very malty. Caramel and toasted bread. Flavors were very very toasty. More caramel, some fruitiness, then back to the toast. Some bitterness on the finish, but the toasted malt really seemed on display here. Very Good. Hairofthedog (419), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 17, 2006 The aroma had caramel, malts, citrus, and a light, light fruit note. The beer poured a reddish brown color w/ orange highlights and light lasting head and lacing. The flavor had caramel, malts, light citrus, and a light roastiness. The mouthfeel was medium to light bodied and creamy.
