On-tap at DJB’s. Pours clearish red/brown with a good size, offwhite head, sticky, sheet lace. Smells sweet and spicy red fruity hoppy. Tastes very nice. Sweet red fruity hops with a building, earthy bitterness. Bitter! This is a tasty ass red. Medium body, good carbonation.

On tap at Downtown Johnny Browns. Wow, I about spit the first sip back in the pint. It was a little surprising this wasn’t a sour. Very dry. I have never had a tart taste before without the sour. This was all bitter tart lemon zest. Actually started to enjoy it after the taste buds adjusted. Hops, malts were quite nice.

This seems to be a sour to me. tap @ hamilton’s. Pours dark copper with an off white head. Nose is tartish. taste is tart on the front end with lingering rotten hops and a way way way way too bitter.

Double Red ale, on draft at PB Tap Room. Arrives a clear dark reddish, mahogany color with a moderate sized beigey head. Aroma is somewhat malty aroma, a little toasty, but dominated by hops of the herbal and piney character. Flavor is brash and bold, burnt caramel malts, but again, dominated by hoppiness, herbal and resiny with lemon peel and some floral notes. Medium body and gently tingly carbonation. A hop bomb for sure. Just the thing for a San Diego beer lover.
