On tap. Pours a hazy orangey brown with an off-white head. Roasted aroma with some nuts. Medium body, sweetish roasted malt, a little nuttiness and a whiff of sweet coffee. The finish is dry with a discreet bitterness. 080709

Draft at brewery in Coronado, CA: Brownish strained wood color, nose of nothing. Just a bit of nutty caramel. The flavor is bland, dry, metallic. Finishes watery, thin. Wow, this sucks.

Draft. Rich brown beer with a light tan head. Nutty malt aroma. Mollases, light chocolate, andf rich toffee flavor. Medium-plus bodied. Toffee lingers with malt, caramel, and light piney hops.

(Draft: O’Brien’s in San Diego, CA) Coronado’s attempt at a nut brown ale, and it’s okay, but not especially memorable. Mildly sweet, malty, nutty, with a bit of tartness in the finish. Not a whole lot of hops or bitterness in this beer, which isn’t a knock on the beer, just an observation. Lightly malty and nutty nose is pleasant. Medium bodied. Small tan head tops the medium brown body, but dissipates rapidly down to the tiniest of rings. Isn’t bad, but not something I’m likely to order again in the future.

A good roast in the aroma. This eliminates the bitterness left by the IPA I just had quite nicely. Roasty, creamy and not nutty to me, I like this one a lot. In fact, for me this is one of the best browns that I’ve had!
