Jul 23, 2009 From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Roasted malt, light nutty and caramelish. Caramelish and liqourice base flavoured. Nice roasted malt base with a light hoppy base flavour. Roasted and liquourice like finish.

Mar 23, 2006 Draft at brewery in Coronado, CA: Brownish strained wood color, nose of nothing. Just a bit of nutty caramel. The flavor is bland, dry, metallic. Finishes watery, thin. Wow, this sucks.

Jul 2, 2005 (Draft: O’Brien’s in San Diego, CA) Coronado’s attempt at a nut brown ale, and it’s okay, but not especially memorable. Mildly sweet, malty, nutty, with a bit of tartness in the finish. Not a whole lot of hops or bitterness in this beer, which isn’t a knock on the beer, just an observation. Lightly malty and nutty nose is pleasant. Medium bodied. Small tan head tops the medium brown body, but dissipates rapidly down to the tiniest of rings. Isn’t bad, but not something I’m likely to order again in the future.

Sep 2, 2008 A good roast in the aroma. This eliminates the bitterness left by the IPA I just had quite nicely. Roasty, creamy and not nutty to me, I like this one a lot. In fact, for me this is one of the best browns that I’ve had!
