| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 22, 2008 I had this at their brewpub and a few more times at Hamilton’s. This is an absolute palate demolisher. The alcohol seems to take center stage here with it’s relentless heat backed by a wave of hops stuck together in clumps of sweet, delicious malty goodness. Pretty good, but this stuff will wreck you in a hurry if you overindulge, which I think would be difficult for the most seasoned livers to pull off. This isn’t the beer you’ll crave after mowing a lawn, but maybe after you do some cross country skiing but you can’t really do that here in San Diego, at least anyplace close to where you’ll be able to get one to warm up afterwards. If anyone knows a ski lodge with this on tap, drop me a line. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Definitely bigger in the taste and mouthfeel. You can easily taste the more plentiful hops and malt that was used. Plenty of piney, grassy hops to make this appealing. Decent brew, much better than the red. hopdog (5617), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2008 22oz bottle acquired in trade with TheCheeseMan (thanks!). Poured a deep amberish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, and some caramel. Nice hoppy aroma. Tastes were reversed with more caramel with lighter pine and citrus. Aroma was hops vs. the tastes more sweet and malty. I never would have guessed this one was over 10%. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Bottle from doubleo. Pours a wonderfully deep and dark even cloudy full orange amber to ruby, nice off-white to orangey/peachy colored head, great retention, solid lacing. The aroma was wonderful, caramel and piney hops, light citrus. The flavor followed the aroma, this thing was quite nice. The description called out hints of chocolate, not sure I got that, but there was a faint nuttiness and even spiceyness to it all. Very well done strong brew (couldn’t believe it was 10pct, though), solid stuff. This thing needs to be rated higher, full hearty mouthfeel. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 10, 2008 650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a murky brown color that fluoresces red when held to a light. Also has a big sudsy beige head that lasts forever and leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong with citrus, pine and hazelnuts. The flavor is smooth with caramel in the forefront; and pine, biter walnuts and sage rounding out the sides. The mouthfeel is full and creamy, The finish is long with lingering caramel, vanilla and a touch of alcohol. Overall: This is a great concoction. Recommended. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2008 Another brew courtesy TheCheeseMan. Cloudy reddish-copper color, thin even layer of white head. Minty fresh hop aroma, light fruity aroma. Good balance of malt and hops. Nice flush of citrusy hops and slight heat on the taste, good hop tingle all the way through to the finish. Well done. Surprised to see the alcohol was that high. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA

Pine hop flavors with resin and tree flavors. Taste of rye as well. Good carbonation with nice hop finish. Very nice. SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA
