Commercial Description:
The Red Devil is a double dose of our "Mermaid's Red Ale. We simply doubled the ingredients (double the malt, double the hops) and created an award winning Ale. An incredibly balanced and smooth beer with a strong finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of yespr/Ungstrup. Slightly hazy reddish golden with a creamy light brown head leaving some lacework. Quite full-bodied, sweetish caramel and fruit. Spicy, peachy and hoppy finish. 120609

Bomber from South Bay Drug. Pours a very dark ruby amber with a large, creamy beige head. Lots of aroma - resin over dark roast caramel. Medium plus body with mild carbonation. Flavor is fruity/floral over smooth roasted malt. Very hoppy, but not super bitter. Goes just a tad malty in the finish, but there is some astringency. Pretty tasty.

22oz bottle. Pours reddish brown. Aroma is all West Coast/San Diego. Hops, maple syrup, resiny. Flavor is a big hop bitterness. Lingering bitterness on the palate. Smells heavy bodied, tastes medium. 03 may 08

22oz bottle courtesy of radshoesbro poured into a tulip. Pours a deep brownish amber that settles in almost completely opaque in the glass. There is a big off-white head that continues to be fed by bubbles from the bottom and leaves good lacing and remained a cap for the duration. The aroma is very good with a dominant floral pine hop aroma with tons of sweet caramel malts as well. The hops are deeply resinous in the nose. The taste isn’t quite as well balanced and the hops are much more astringent that the aroma suggested. There is plenty of caramel malt sweetness that seems more toasted in the taste. The finish is astringent and bitter with the pine hops dominating. The mouthfeel is fairly full bodied and very sticky with the pine resin. There is plenty of carbonation that keeps the stickiness from becoming overpowering on the palate. This is a very good beer that could be great if the taste had lived up to the balanced hoppiness of the aroma. A bit too astringent for my liking without delivering the flavors necessary to pull it off.

on tap at papago... dark auburn brown colored body capped with a lasting off white head. it smells rather brash and hoppy yet smooth and malty... pine, citrus, grass, leafy hops, spice and caramel. the palate is a bit on the sweet side but waxy resin and grapefruit pith keep me coming back... the flavor is the same as the aroma with a prickly feeling, mild bitterness and slight noticeable alcohol. medium bodied, creamy and smooth yet rigid... all to easy... 7/4/7/4/16/3.8

Bottle marked 02/2009 (marked as 9%ABV). Pours with a brown head over a very deep brown body with copper tinges, and good lacing with awesome retention. Aroma of chocolate, hops, smoke, berries and caramel. Taste is hops, berries, chocolate, strong bitterness and caramel. Creamy carbonation. Doesn’t meld as well as some other imperial reds...quite different from the average too. Gets individual numbers that probably represent a higher score than I would have expected...
