Corsendonk Agnus (Abbey Pale Ale)

Pours a light golden color, large fizzy mostly diminishing head, moderate lacing. Clean crisp finish.

12oz bottle. Huge fluffy white head, pale champagne look with some yeast floating around. very crisp mouthfeel and similar to Duvel + Pirat in taste. Alcohol well hidden and nice dry finish. Awesome abbey tripel, especially for $3 a bottle at the Candlewick.

At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. This was my standout favorite of the Corsendonk beers at the festival. I think with all the thickly sweet beers in the lineup, this maybe separated itself due to the champagne dryness. Pours rich cloudy golden with a brilliant white head. Fruity, crisp and clean, this was a palate relief amidst some seriously big beers. I’d drink this again.

355 ml bottle. Pours light yellow with nice bubbles and lacing. Citrus aromas. Medium mouth feel with good citrus flavors. Not my favorite style but very enjoyable.

Bottle 750 ml. Tulip glass. Light amber, darker than an american macro and with smaller bubbles. Head comes in as clear white. Light hoppy and dry flavor with very little malt. Thin and effervescent.

330ml brown bottle. Pale gold colour. Compact white head, creamy texture, slightly rock, settles to a very fine white layer on the surface. Slight haze with some suspended yeast floaties. Aroma has clove and lemon notes with trace vanilla. Flavour has vanilla, fruity malt, bit of citrus hop flavour in the finish, failry dry. Fine carbonation, light mouthfeel.

Corked and, um, strapped(?) 750, just like the picture. Best by 02/09/07, lot no. 142217. Pours into my trusty Duvel glass a clear gold. Big, fluffy, white head that disintegrates fairly quickly, somewhat rockily. Lots of bubbles in this one, rising rapidly to the top in a futile attempt to replenish the head. The nose is mildly sweet, dusty fruit, some light spiciness and mildly yeasty. Mildly hopped flavor, more dusty, light tropical and citrus fruit. Somewhat dry. Soft mouthfeel is offset by the bubbly carbonation. Lighter overall than many tripels I’ve had, it’s almost like a "session tripel" or something. Nice drinker!

Pours opaque golden with a huge head. Aroma is fruity and floral. Flavor is clean, fruity, soapy, and a smidgeon tart. Finish is dry, and enjoyable. Good trippel.
