gws57 (988), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Sep 8, 2007 Found this one bottled at Sav-Way in Geneva, Illinois. Cloudy, medium golden pour with a sweet, fruity banana nose, a thick, fluffy white head, tastes of orange, strawberry, baked bread and clove. Smooth finish. Interesting. Not sure why this is billed as a pale ale.
EHopper (129), Minnesota, USA Sep 4, 2008 Nice, fruity, dark lemon colored beer with intriguing banana citrus aroma. Great feel in the mouth. Little aftertaste. mwa423 (10), , Ohio, USA Aug 22, 2008 The six pack I had was full of floating yeast, while this is basically harmless, I generally don’t enjoy things floating in my beer. The pour is a dark maize with a thick head that shrinks down to a nice lacing. The Abbey Pale Ale has a nice malt smell with a bit of spice. The taste is an excellent Belgian taste with plenty of malt and citrus flavor. The palate is also excellent, very smooth with just a slight bite in the aftertaste
Overall, very good, I was skeptical of the yeast floating but I didn’t notice it. If you are a fan of Belgian Ales you will absolutely like this. Bonus points for the ABV, which seems higher than your average Belgian Ale
jjuf1853 (200), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2008 Bottle pours a hazy golden yellow with a thick white head that quickly recedes. Lively carbonation rising up from the bottom of the glass. Aroma is citrus, coriander, some malt and faint hops. Flavor is fruity (mainly white grapes), yeasty, mildly bitter with a slightly metallic aftertaste. Very smooth and drinkable. Ober (306), Best, Netherlands Aug 17, 2008 Bottle at Boshuis Venkraai. A clear golden colored beer, with a fine white foamy head. The aroma of malts, fruits like orange. A litttle pale ale like. The taste is soft, sweet, fruity like peaches and orange. A good balanced beer. The aftertaste has some sweetness. ha1ag (233), Netherlands Aug 13, 2008 Bottled at Pothuiske in Mestreech. Color is gold, but not transparent, with thick off-white head. Citrus nose. Aroma has citric with hops and yeast with something on the side I can’t define. Very pleasant, nice tripel.
