clear nutty brown, smooth light brown head. aroma of fruity caramel, nelliker, honey liqeur. flavor is caramel, faint fruitiness, boozy, nuts, faint metal flavor. reasonably balanced, but not well balanced, strange herbal/spicy bitterness. aroma was somewhat better than flavor.

Bottle. Malty raisin aroma. Dark Amber body with tall fluffy dissipating light tan head. Dry Ale with notes of cherry, raisin, malt and a Dry finish. I believe this bottle might be a year or two old, tasted a tad different then when I had it on tap.

Aroma is pretty typical for a Belgian golden ale. A little farmhouse-y. Color is a somewhat murky medium brown. Taste is solid but not exciting. No one flavor dominates. A little boring.

Bottle. Dark brown color with large, creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, raisins, vanilla, and coriander. The taste is fruity, cherries, spicy with hints of licorice and apricots. Nice balance, some warming alcohol in the taste. Medium body. One of my favourites among the winter seasonals.

Pours a dark red color with a nice thick tan color head. Aroma of roasted malts, apples and spices. Flavors of roasted malts, caramels, dry dark fruits like apples and cherries, spices and some brown sugars. Medium carbonation, with a sweet and slight sour dry finish. Very pleasant with a nice ballance of flavors.

75cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. Best before 2010-09-08. It poured an amber red colour with a medium big creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, some citrus, and yeast. Flavour is roasted malts, nuts, raisins and a bit yeast. A decent christmas ale, but there are better christmas beers, or ales, out there.

This poured a rich mahogany color with a tan head that left decent lacing. The nose was roasted malts, with some floral and citrus hop notes. The body is full and the mouthfeel is smooth. The alcohol is present in the slightly sour finish. Overall a very good Christmas brew.

Bottle @ Cardinal. Pours deep chestnut brown with a thin, creamy, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, barley , chestnuts, vanilla, and hints of cherry. Taste is smooth malty, medium body with some nice spices mixed up in this good brew.
