Medium brown with beige head. Nutty aroma; has a crisp smell, like a good soda. Deep malt also comes through. Interesting flavor; like root herbs and malt combined. Dry mouthfeel. Very good.

Dec 22, 2009 Bottle. Poured ruby red with a thick tan head. Aromas of Belgian yeast predominate, but also present are various spices and cookie dough. Flavor is sweet, malty, toffee, leading to a touch of yeasty hops in the finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. This was quite delicious.

Dec 21, 2009 @ Kerstbierfestival Essen (B). A dark red/brown colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of sweet dark fruits, some cherries and raisins. The taste is sweet of fruits, with some bitterness. The aftertaste is sweet, after tat a little bitter.

Dec 21, 2009 The aroma here is great - malt, orange, and quality. It is a nutty, pretty opaque brown. The aroma is also quite sweet. The palate is similarly malty, orangey, and sweet, but it quickly moves to the semibitter flavour of orange peels, which is my least favoured aspect of this offering. Overall, very good quality brew that comes with an awesome glass in the Christmas pack.

Dec 21, 2009 Pours a dark ruby to amber color with a small off-white head. Sweet aroma of honey, caramel and spices. Very spicy taste that starts off quite sweet with a malty base and then moves towards a long bittersweet finish. Decent carbonation.

Dec 18, 2009 Thoroughly enjoyed from a 11.2oz bottle in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a deep amber/brown color, with a moderate to fluffy light tan head that lasts for a few minutes. Notes of caramel, slightly scorched brown sugar, and continental character malts to the nose; along with some subtle abbey yeast esters. The palate is semi-sweet, lacking strong hop character, other than perhaps a slightly-less-than-balancing bitterness. Malt characters are, however, far more prevalent. Raisons, bourbon-dipped prunes, and a touch of chocolate, along with the caramel characters mentioned above. The palate is given further complexity by a slight note of alcohol. Overall, extremely well done.

Dec 17, 2009 Bottle. Red, rather clear liquid with a large, beige head. Aroma is sweet, fruity and yeasty with some vegetables and a hint of spices. Taste is sweet and a tiny bit acidic, fruity and malty with a yeasty bitterness in the finish. Carbonation is a bit too sharp, with very small bubbles. Good.
