Commercial Description:
Has a very distinctive bouquet: yeasty, fruity and slightly smoky. In palate, it has notes of port, raisins and black chocolate. Editor's note: Apparently production has moved from Van Steenberge to du Bocq as of Sept 2007.

Splendid beer. Pours a lovely dark brown. Nice head. Very malty aroma, with a hint of raisins. Complicated taste; it kind of goes through a series of raisin-plum, coffee, bready, coffee, spicy. Excellent beer, especially if you like dubbels.

Poured a nice brown with a huge head. Very pleasant aroma of malt and chocolate. Nice palate - taste is complicated - lots of flavors at work including raisin, malt, chocolate, coffee.

Bottle. Light brown pour with a great looking thick tan head. Aroma of gingerbread, yeast and spices. Excellent lacing with a taste of yeast, caramel, coffee and raisins. Great finish. What a brew!!

Dark brown-ruby body with a nice, delicious, stable foamy beige head. Aromas of raisins, plum, spices and roasted grains, some toffee. Smooth mouthfeel, complex body with a moderated personality what contains the dark fruits too like raisins and dried plum, solid coffee, dark chocolate. Nice , not a strong roasted aftertaste with the fruits. Beloved stuff:)

Got this as a combo pack with the Agnus and two glasses. This was much better than the Agnus. Dark brown color with a huge head. Sweet fruit smell. Good carbonation.

I found this more preferable than the Agnus, although they don’t really compare! A nice dubbel. A tad burnt in taste. 75cl bottle served into Corsendonk glass. From Brussels South Airport.

Very nice dubbel indeed! Pours a very dark brown hue with a monster head that sticks around. Smells of over-ripened apples, dark fruits, dates. Solid on the palate, a little sweet as you would expect but not cloying. Very easy to drink. Just a very good dubbel that has it’s own unique subtleties. Gets better as it warms!

33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, yet easy to drink, hazy, rocky head, good brew
