| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Bottle served in Duvel glass. Very dark but clear brown with bubbly head. Malty sweet vinous and fruity aromas with some smoky and vintage port notes. Really distracted by the palate, which just didn’t do it for me. Too much carbonation... big bubbles, on top of a rather thin palate. Found this quite annoying. Some cola and licorice flavors on the tongue. I didn’t get too much in the way of dark chocolate... a bit of vanilla, though. I almost really enjoyed this beer but the palate distracted me quite a bit. jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2008 Brown with a lasting off-white head leaving lace. Bready malt and caramel in the initial aroma. Background notes of licorice, roast malt and dates. Rich malt flavour, but dry as it should be. The licorice and other notes are lingering in the aftertaste. Snojerk321 (2019), San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2008 750ml bottle from BevMo Carmel Mountain. Deep brown pour, sizable head. Yeasty, Belgian aroma. Oh yeah. I get the impression it’s going to be a bit dry. Not sure how to describe it. Body is quite carbonated, not overly by any means, though. Flavor is good, unique for sure. I don’t really know how I’d explain it, perhaps fruity and a hint of dark malt. I simply love this beer. dutch23mp (167), Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA

Very carbonated full of flavor and malty fruit taste. Very nice on the palate a quality brew expected of this Belgium style. tarjei (1755), Bryne, Norway

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Tasted at Dicomo’s wedding. Pours a nice clear dark brown with solid sustainable tan head. Nose of raisins, and dark malt. Tasted roasty, some chocolate, and dark fruit. Very prickly carbonation. Very good for style, but I just don’t personally care for it all that much.
