Commercial Description:
Has a very distinctive bouquet: yeasty, fruity and slightly smoky. In palate, it has notes of port, raisins and black chocolate. Editor's note: Apparently production has moved from Van Steenberge to du Bocq as of Sept 2007.

Bottle. Opaque dark brown with big white head that dissipates fast. Aroma of spices, metal, and water. Very sweet. Nutmeg plus lingering date sugar that can become cloying. Quite thin. Does not shine. Good, but not spectacular beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a very deep ruby red with a thick foamy off-white head. Aroma is light raisins, vinous, yeast, some spice. Flavor is very smooth malt, raisin, chocolate, light spice, yeast, some chocolate. Very easy to drink.

This may be my favorite Abbey Dubbel. Poured from a bottle at Shores Inn, SCS, MI. Pours hazy brown with short creamy off-white head. Great flavor, presiding from what I can tell mostly chocolate and malts. Sits well on the palate, with the alcohol cloaked well by the other flavors.

Pours a dark hazy brown with a creamy beige head. Great lacing. Aroma of fruit, yeast, malts, and chocolate. Taste is complex with a intricate blend of spices, malts, hops, fruit, and chocolate.

750 split two ways. Brown in color, hazy, with some yeast floaties. Aroma is spicy, with some acrid malts, chocolate. Taste is somewhat tart and sour, with acrid malts, yeast, spices, and light notes of fruit. Thin in body. Perhaps this bottle was past it’s prime or exposed to heat, as this was a dissapointment.

Excellent brew. Dark brown pour with small off white head. Ruby highlights when held to the light. Nutty malt aroma and taste of spices (cloves) and dark malt.

Flaske. Flot flot mørkebrun farve. Dejligt skum og en fantastisk afbalanceret smag er med til at gøre denne øl til en nydelse (Afprøver mine reklame evner).
