Aroma of spices, metal, and water. Very sweet. Nutmeg plus lingering date sugar that can become cloying. Quite thin. Does not shine. Good, but not spectacular beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 15, 2007 This may be my favorite Abbey Dubbel. Poured from a bottle at Shores Inn, SCS, MI. Pours hazy brown with short creamy off-white head. Great flavor, presiding from what I can tell mostly chocolate and malts. Sits well on the palate, with the alcohol cloaked well by the other flavors. alobar (1032), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 14, 2007 750 split two ways. Brown in color, hazy, with some yeast floaties. Aroma is spicy, with some acrid malts, chocolate. Taste is somewhat tart and sour, with acrid malts, yeast, spices, and light notes of fruit. Thin in body. Perhaps this bottle was past it’s prime or exposed to heat, as this was a dissapointment. Acknud (792), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA
