Probably the best dubbel I can think of, though not all that many of them are jumping to mind right now. Grovlam (3809), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2006 Bottle. Brown-amber colour with a fine medium head. Wow what a beer. Aroma is coriander, fruity, yeast and some spicy and caramel notes. Flavour is sweet, but some light bitter notes as well. Very balanced beer that hides the alcohol very well. I found it medium to full bodied with a nice smooth and sweet finish. Very tasty and smooth beer, very impressive. Cliff (363), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 26, 2006 Updated: Oct 29, 2006The Bottle: Call me superficial but a book should have a good cover. Corsendonk, with it’s elegant, attractive bottle does not disappoint.
The Pour: A rosey brown body with a huge achromic head.
The Smell: Strangely muted - on the surface there is a light almondy scent - and perhaps slight fruit notes if you really get a good whiff. But the aroma is pretty weak for a 7.5 beer.
The Taste: 25% Bitter 75% malt. A wonderful concoction that combines a big cherry malt presence with a nutty bitter core. The dry, thick finish reminds me of a good imperial stout. Alcohol is not present.
The Beer: Perhaps I am still under the sway of the bottle, but this is a lordly, ancient styled drink, worthy of a king’s table. LooseCannon (930), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2006 Pours brown with an amber hue, tan creamy head. Aroma has a hint of cinnamon spice and a hint of caramel. Flavor has a slight roastyness in the malt. Creamy mouthfeel. Touch of figs, and a nutmeg-like spicyness. Leads to a brownsugar aspect and a smooth dry finish. agl108 (507), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Bottle at Flat Rock Saloon. Dark brown pour with thin khaki head. Malty, sweet aroma with a touch of raisins. Good malty, nutty flavor that finishes spicy. No hint of the 7.5% alcohol evident. A pleasant surprise. Stefano (1330), Esbjerg, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Pours a hazy brown that you can’t even look through, there is a light brown head which is thin as well. This is loaded with a very strong sweet raisin aroma. Flavors of brown sugar and some toasty flavor that compliments the brightness of the carbonation. A little bit smokey. Some definite bitterness, but none of it lingers into the finish.
