downender (2537), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Oct 15, 2009 Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 15/10/09. Amber in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of fruity, sweetish malts. Flavour was also malty, with a touch of caramel, hint of earthiness and vaguely bitter finish. Forgettable. KnutAlbert (3110), Oslo, Norway Dec 5, 2008 Cask at the Charles Dickens, Sothwark. This good area for pubs is getting even better. I was given a very good sample of this first, but as it was the end of the cask, I was recommended not to make it a pint.
A proper session ale, fine malt and hops balance. Very quaffable. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Jun 17, 2007 A Mes rate:
Cask at the Belvedere, Liverpool. Tasty beer with fruit and caramel and something distinctly medicinal about it. Balanced and sessionable. Nice stuff. DJMonarch (6036), Northwich, Cheshire, England Jan 31, 2007 Cask Handpump at the Hillsborough Hotel, Sheffield 17/11/2006
Floral slightly rich aroma. Amber coloured and fruity. A little rich on the palate. Some dryness in a crisp full malt finish. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Feb 24, 2006 Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Tawny brown, slim head. Mmmm, really good and tasty beer. Sweet, full taste. Cakey, slightly hoppy, with icing sugar to finish. Nectar, some syrup. Just feels good to sup, even though it wouldn’t always be my thing. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Jul 8, 2005 Cask at Ship and Mitre, Liverpool. I agree with imdownthepub. Light brown citrusy bitter but with a good underpinning of malt. Excellent session beer Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Aug 13, 2004 Gravity cask @ Hants Bowman, Dundridge. Light brown colour. Damp and sweaty with some light hop aromas. Dull flavours with some passable malt and ending on a mildly hopped note. imdownthepub (5089), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England May 23, 2004 Cask Conditioned at The Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel, Warwick. Amber beer with light head. This is a light citusy lemon hopped beer, easy dinking and well flavoured. A pale malt underlies throughout, a good example of a thirst quenching new style English summer ale.
