Tested Cask-Conditioned. A very good cask ale. Delicious malt, the hoppy bitterness is well balanced against sweetness.

Cask at the White Horse, 12th July 2008 with renffisch. Rich dark amber appearance with a strange aroma that brings to mind foliage and tree sap! Great nutty and malty taste, boosted by some nice fruity notes in the middle. Smooth with a good weight, I found this a very flavoursome and enjoyable pint.

Cask at Foy Boat, Ramsgate: Dark mahogany coloured bitter. Fruit, nuts and chocolate with a nice maltiness. This one surprised me, really good bitter.

(Cask, Market Porter, London, 22 July) Colour is dark amber, with little head. Nose is malty, a bit fruity with dried fruit, caramel and a nutty hint. Taste starts malty and nutty then turns fruity with hints of dark cherry and a balanced dusty hoppiness in the finish. Balanced but a bit understated. Nice though.

Cask Conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival. Red golden, thin white head. Light fruity aromatic beer, a little like an elderflower beer though with a plummy raisin background.

Cask, Kings Arms, Salford. Dark brown colour, thin off white head. Not much in the aroma. Gently fruity flavour with balanced maltiness and dark chocolate/nutty notes. Drying finish. Not bad.

Cask gravity at Battersea Beer Festival 2006. Deep chestnut with disappearing white head. Slightly meaty aroma. Good agressive hops in mouth and drying hop finish. Quite nice. As you would expect from Cottage, rich flavours. But this is better than the average bitter.
