Commercial Description:
Brewed with a variety of malts including Chocolate, Crystal, Munich, and Black Malt; and hopped with Eroica, Mt. Hood, and Northern Brewers hops- then finished with a touch of Real Almond Flavor. This is a fantastically smooth, surprisingly light, and absolutely delicious Stout! The Almond flavor tantalizes the nose, without being overpowering.

Nice aroma of coffee and nuts. Flavor of nuts and some bitter aftertaste for a typical stouty finish. Not bad.

12 oz bottle

This looked interesting so given the chance I cracked open a bottle. Not being familiar with the Cottonwood brewery my expectations were for something decent but not unbelievable. It actually surprised me with its quality; if I could get this locally I might grab a six pack this fall.

Aroma / Appearance - The mocha colored head grew to a height of one finger before settling above the black fluid body. The nose reminded me of honey almond crisp cereal poured in a bowl with malty Dr Pepper. Hazel and fruity notes tickle the nostrils as well.

Flavor / Palate - The first sip shocked me with the depth and richness. Coffee, almonds and a hint of smoke come before the bubbly cola like finish. The bitter aftertaste highlights a drinkable and pleasant stout.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Smell of nuts and coffee. Taste is weird to say the least. Can’t really put my finger on it, but something is really off hear. Drinkable but different.

12 oz. Opaque black with a two-finger head that tries to last. Aroma is pure almond with maybe a whiff of coffee and smoke. Initial flavor is all almond, but later some dry cocoa, blackberry, slight espresso, and very light smoke show up. Medium body is slightly watery, tingly, and dryish.

Bottle. Pitch black, with but a thin scalp of tan bubbles. Big time coffee aroma, followed up by a big-time coffee flavor ... topped with a sweet nutty complexion, chocolate and sweetness. This is a damn, fine drinkable dark beer. Dedicated to DM. (#3424, 4/15/2008)

12 oz bottle...poured a deep black with a slight tan head that faded fast. Nose of vanilla, coffee, toasted malts, toffee, and tobacco. Flavors of coffee, caramel, chocolate, and some chemically altered almond extract. Platate was somewhat oily, and thin w/ a lingering dry, sweetness from the almond flavors. The almond flavor came through more towards the bottom of the pint. Solid effort...

Shared by turdferguson. Pours a surprisingly dark brew with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet, vanilla, amaretto, smells tasty at first but then feels artificial. The flaovr is sweet, has a weird roasty character, almond, and then it gets kind of shallow. Not too much depth. The palat is thin and there isn’t too much going on in the background.
