Nice aroma of almonds, vanilla, chocolate, and roasted malt. Reminded me of my favorite candy...marzipan chocolates. Flavor of roasted malt and notes of smoke. Light body. Flavor didn’t compare to the aroma. beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 22, 2005 Bottle. Opaque brown pour. Aroma of Frangelica and some roasted malts. Roasty nutty malt flavors, maybe a light hint of prune. A bit thin, and a little bit smokey. CaptainCougar (5517), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 22, 2005 Nearly opaque dark pour with a thin tan head. Sweet, artificially nutty, vanilla aroma has some notes of alcohol. Starts full and carbonated with some dry, mildly bittersweet earthy caramel and roasted malt. Lightly balanced but a bit too over-carbonated and otherwise thin in flavor. Aubrey (2777), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jun 22, 2005 Dark brown with a deep tan head. Lively carbonation; lightish body. Big aromas of almond and chocolate milk. Malts were pretty decent, with a rich, powdery, chalky, chocolaty quality. Very mild bitterness; kind of drying on the tongue. Lingering almond and vanilla aromas. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2005 Updated: Jun 15, 2005Rerate from fresh bottle from Peace St. Market, Raleigh, NC. Pours super dark brownish black with medium deep tan head. Aroma of dark malt, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, chocoff, hops. Perhaps the nuttiest aroma I have ever sensed. Tastes full bodied with hints of chocolate, tons of nuts, and spices. Smooth finish. Nicely done. More nuts than a gay porn gangbang flick. Gets a bit watery as it warms, but a great initial nuttiness. Dorwart (1820), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 15, 2005 Decent sized dark brown head. Creamy on top underlaced by large bubbles. Settles to a nice thin foam. Nice aroma with plenty of coffee, chocolate covered cherries and roasted grains. Color is a very dark brown/black. Thin, shortlived flavor with plenty of dark coffee, roasted grains and a bit of chalky palate. Very easy drinking. Finish is more strong coffee, and a decent dry bitterness. An ok stout but is lacking in body and complexity. can8ianben (904), Pasadena, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 27, 2005 Great colour and nice head but it is gone quickly. The aroma is very strange with some overly sweet mocha flavour. I would agree that there is some fruit (maybe cherry?) aroma present as well. Judging from the aroma I was very curious to find out what the beer tasted like... it was horrible. Very watery, high carbonation, not something you usually asociate with a stout. There was some nutty overtones, but overall felt like a dark version of ginger ale. Stay away from this one. bsawatzky (152), harrisonburg, Virginia, USA
