This is mostly a malty, very slightly roasty IPA with a moderately bitter hoppiness. Apparently it is dry-hopped, but even taking into account that this is a bottled beer, I’m not getting any of the fresh hop taste normally associated with dry-hopping. Minimally sweet, this is a pretty dry beer in the flavor as well as on the palate. Medium body doesn’t excite the palate. Bright amber color, fairly hazy in appearance. The off-white head pours to a decent size and gradually diminishes to a thin, broken layer, leaving some sporadic lace on the glass. Not bad, but definitely not my kind of IPA. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2005 Pours brownish gold with a medium head. Aroma is fruity malt with piney hops. Flavor is caramel apricoty malt with some spice, syrupy mouthfeel with a hoppy, somewhat acidic finish. Overall drinkable and a good example of an american IPA. valejo (81), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 27, 2005 I’m actually unhappy with this IPA after finishing a six pack. There is some nice maltiness but there was far less bitterness than I hoped. Moreover, there is a peculiar fruity taste that I find undesireable. darkko (99), Kingsport, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2005 Pours a dark hazy amber with a thick, lasting, foamy head. Rich malt and hop aroma. Malty flavor with floral and fruity notes. Medium hop bitterness lingers on back of tongue and throat. I liked this. Very drinkable. swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2005 Thanks to Suttree for this one. Pours deep copper with big white head. Aroma of floral esters, hops. Tastes hoppy, fruity, with some finishing black pepper spiciness. The dry hopping is aparent in the taste. Delicious. Jonathan3584 (323), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2005 Poured darker than I expected, with a nice light tan head that dissipated quickly. No lacing to speak of. Smells like bitter flowers, cascade hops. Flavor is initially nothing but cascade hops, but gives way to a nice dry malt. The finish returns to the bitterness of the cascades. All in all a solid beer, especially for a local. Could be better balanced; needs a little more malt flavor. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 16, 2005 Updated: Apr 14, 2005Brewed with "Altitude" and "dry-hooped" eh? Bottle from Hop and Leaf Feb 2005. Deep copper-amber color, with strong tinges of auburn and orange. Clear, with an off-white head that dissipates lazily, leaving some lace. Pretty basic PNW IPA. The hops do give off more than just pure citrus bitterness, there is some fruitiness in there. Quite fresh tasting, a bit dry on the malt side. I think wohlfs just about nailed the review. This one showcases the fresh hops, and leaves only some light grains to balance.
