GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA May 19, 2009 Thanks, Cheeseman! Amber with a tan head. Malty with a little bit of hops. Easy drinking. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 15, 2009 bottle via trade, sampled 4/1/07.
Pours a deep dark clear amber with two fingers of thick pillowy white head that sticks around well. Smells of big sweet heavy malts, some sharp floral bitterness. Taste shows lots of sharp floral notes, dark sweet fruity malt backbone, toasted dark bread, toffee, and some alcohol heat. Palate is balanced, if a bit on the sharp side, with brisk carbonation and booze in the back. SoLan (1367), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 1, 2009 Courtesy ChzMan. Amber/brown, small tan head. Toasty malt and prominent hops with a bit of a metallic element. Medium body, moderate carbonation, easy drinking. A hoppy brown winter warmer, would have loved to try it fresh. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 28, 2009 Bottle from ROBORB. Thanks Rob! Pours clear reddish amber with a medium lived beige head. Smell is hoppy, earthy rye like and red ale malt. Taste is a bit metallic, but also nicely balanced between a mildly sweet amber ale like malt profile along with some earthy, fruity hops that provided a nice flavor and bitterness. Medium bodied and medium prickly carbonation. The metallic flavor detracted, but still very drinkable. timsilvia32 (444), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Jul 16, 2008 Had at Woods on South, now closed. Red pour, Pretty big and malty. Kind of like a hoppy Christmas cookie. One of their better brews I’ve had. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2008 Tasted on a recent visit to Woods on South in Charlotte, NC. Pours a dark amber color with thin off-white/tan head. Aroma is hoppy, sweet, malty, hints of grain and grass. Flavor is much of the same, a little sweet a little bitter. Generally light to medium-bodied without a lingering finish. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 14, 2008 Dark brown body with a small off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with light molassas. Caramel, molassas and light raisin flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. oldpainless (35), fort mill, South Carolina, USA Sep 29, 2007 Not a big fan of the hoppy ales but you cant deny this beers appeal to the fans of this style.
