Commercial Description:
From the breweries of Colorado and the Pacific Northwest comes the winter tradition of a hearty brown ale that finishes with a strong hoppy taste. Made with a blend of Crystal Malts, and balanced with Centennial and Columbus hops, the frostbite was aggressively brewed to warm the beer drinkers in the southern Appalachian Mountains. Brewed as part of our new "HIGH COTTON" line in 2006, the Frostbite will be allowed to show it's true colors- brewed as a High Gravity beer under the new NC law- this fine ale tops out at about 9% ABV.

12 oz bottle: Coppery brown w/ a lasting cream colored head. Very herbal hoppy @ first, then caramel and light sherry aromas. Nutty and toasted malts come out as it warms further. Well balanced, lightly toasty malt flavor with herbal and citrusy hop flavors in the finish and aftertaste. Smooth fuller body, well hidden alcohol, medium carbonation. A beer better suited to an early fall evening around a camp fire as opposed to 90 degrees around the pool or the beach, but a decent beer nontheless.

12oz. bottle. Opaque brown-orange, small tan head. Fruity citric hops, biscuity malt, and some alefruit in the aroma. Dark caramel and fruit flavors complement a slightly toasty malt component and a mild citric hop bitterness. Some residual bitterness and astringency in the finish with a mild soapy and fusel alcohol character. Mouthfeel is medium, slight dry.

Bottle shared by Jason. Slightly hazy brown body, medium tan head. Boozy prune and bitter grassy hops in the aroma. Somewhat thin prune/alcohol/crystal flavor with clean alcohol sprinkled on top. Decent stuff.

Thanks Jason. The beer pours to a nice mahogany body with a thin tan head. The aroma is bready, hoppy, woody like OSA. The flavor is woody, spicy, cinnamon, minerals galore, interesting hops. The palate is minerally, woody, lightly resiny.

Copper color. Nice creamy soapy head. Nice lavendar and caramelly hoppy aroma. Prickly mouthfeel. Bittering hops, some soap and caramel malt, maybe some halls cough drop. Warming up to it nicely.

pours an amberish brown colo rw/ a tall tan head made up of small bubbles w/ some good visible carbonation and light lacing. Aroma is nicely hoppy w/ some light spices and a good roast malt. Palate is pretty light some carbonation surprisingly thin for an 8.5%. Flavor is dry piny hop some hints of grasses and a very light sweetness. This is really nothing special.

Thanks to Ryan for sharing this at HWOH. Pours moslty cloudy and hazy deep amber and a nice off white head. Aroma is at first hoppy and citrusy but then gives way to some nutty and toasted malts and hints of chocolate. Very hoppy flavor profile , moslty dominating the malts and leaves a nice bitter finish. Pretty good overall. Bottle says 8.5%, not 6% as the website says.
