Had this on tap at the Charlotte, NC airport. Nice malty aroma with a hint Belgian character. Slightly sweet with a thick mouthfeel, this brew was somewhat weak in the flavor department not matching its nice looks with a comparable flavor delivery. jcwattsrugger (5333), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

This one had something slightly different, and I liked it. I think it was the slight roastiness and touch of chocolate malts. It turned out to be a good combination with the brown ale. I didn’t really find a hoppy finish, but I rather liked the way it finished..... if it were much hoppier, I think it would have detracted from the overall taste. timtheenchanta (70), Clemson, South Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Brown body with growing light colored head. Very little retention and very little lacing. Not too much for the nose. Light coffee with some deep roasted maltiness. Sweet light malt taste with no hops balance that I can find. A little watery and thin feel but enjoyable light malt palate. Not a beer I’d ask for by name at the store but I might try it again. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA

Reddish amber not quite reaching full fledge flossin brown status. Has a sweet brown sugar kick to it and then reverts to the normal. Not bad session beer though. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2006 Pours deep red with a one-finger eggshell head. Sweet, lightly smoky aroma with hints of chocolate. Tastes like a regular brown ale (sweet, nutty) with a bit of smokiness which keeps it from being plain old boring. Good session beer. blowtorch (13), North Carolina, USA

I found it to have a very refreshing taste, and thought it was quite rich and bold. Like some of the other reviewers, I also noticed a hint of chocolate.
