Cranberry juice colored, medium retention and lacing, Very faint aroma of malt and a little spice. Straightforward malt/grain taste. Bland, uncomplex, uninteresting. But, nothing offensive.

Sampled from draft at the Carolina Beer Company in the Charlotte airport during a layover at 9am in the morning. Darker rootbeer appearance. Creamy head. mild dark beer aroma, but no fragrance really sticks out. A well behaved dark brew. Good example of a friendly dark beer without any offensive attributes. Wet old roasty back woods flavors. On th finish, not offensive yet provides the satisfaction of good beer personality.

On Tap - Carolina Beer Co. Brewpub - Charlotte Airport. Medium copper pour, tight khaki colored head. Neutral aroma - hints of fresh lake water. Flavor has some caramel notes, some topsoil, a bit of bitter chocolate. Decently thick mouthfeel. Not bad at all - hit the spot after a long day of travel. First online rating of a beer in a brewpub while I am actually drinking it.

Draft at the Charlotte airport...Poured a translucent brown w/ a minimal off white head. The nose was hard to detect...a little malt, some florals, dried fruits. The flavor was a watery, weak version of a traditional borwn ale. I was able to narrow it down to toffee, caramel and metallics. Palate was somewhat harsh because of the metallic taste mixed with the carbonation. I wouldn’t have this beer again.

Appearance: Pours a clearish, brown body with a small, off-white head. Smell: Aroma of toasted nuts and dry dark caramel with a hint of chocolate. Taste: Brown malts with flavors of caramel and nuts with a medium sweetness. Malts gloss over a very mild bitterness. A sip of spring water. Sweetish, malty finish lightly taste of chocolate. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body with a slightly watery texture. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A pleasant lil’ brown ale.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with CaptainCougar (thanks!). Poured a medium brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roast, caramel, and chocolate. Tastes of toasted nuts, caramel, and chocolate.

Bottle thanks to ucusty: Pours a transparent deep amber mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing, off-white head. Aroma of dry toasted nuts and some mild milk chocolate and light citrus fruitiness. Starts with about average thickness and some mild dark malty sweetness, but becomes blander towards a more watery slightly bitter finish with some lingering chestnut notes. Pretty dull, although drinkable.
