Jun 30, 2009 I had this at a restaurant. It is easily one of my favorite beers - granted I’m no beer expert and haven’t tried too many yet. Very smooth.

Aug 4, 2005 Love this stuff. Not too hoppy at all, and with a taste similar to a Scotch Ale, but without the overpowering sweet finish. Highly recommended.

Dec 23, 2006 I received this as part of my Beer of the Month Club. Nice brown color with a pretty good nice brown head. Nice chocolate aroma and flavor. Definitely a nice classic brown ale.

Jan 15, 2008 Updated: Feb 24, 2009Fantastic beer. This is the most nutty ale I have ever had. It absolutely REEKS of sunflowerseeds, and the resulting flavor is wonderfully salty, full bodied, and nutty with hints of cocoa Old Bay. This beer was fantastic, I was shocked at how delicious it was considering its 64% rating. This may be my new sub $7 staple beer.

Mar 26, 2006 Living in Charlotte, the Carolina Beer Company is right next door, so I felt obligued to give this one a try. I found it to have a very refreshing taste, and thought it was quite rich and bold. Like some of the other reviewers, I also noticed a hint of chocolate.
