CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 15, 2009 On tap at Woods on South 2/1/08: Pours a mostly opaque mahogany brown with a thin, spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of dry toasty nutty dark malts with some roasted character. Starts faintly sweet with some grainy roasted malt flavor and a touch of dark chocolate and chestnuts before a dry toasty finish. An ok porter, but could use more body and sweetness. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Mar 22, 2008 On tap at the brewpub in Mooresville. This was a respectable porter, but really didn’t stand out. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Mar 14, 2008 Appearance: Opaque black body with a small, fizzy beige head
Smell: Sorta smells like a big handful of cocoa powder. Sorta. Hint of licorice in there as well.
Taste: Very cocoa-y with a mild sweetness. Roasted dark malts, with the roastiness growing as it warms a bit. Tiny blip of bitterness. Sourish, chocolatey finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Middle of the road for me. As it warmed, some aspects of the beer improved, though sadly, some worsened. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Feb 24, 2008 Name: Moon Porter
