allfreej (358), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Mar 27, 2009 On draft at Charlotte Airport. Black pour, with a thin tan head. Not much lace. Not much nose, though this was likely due to the cold temperature of the pour. Roasty malt flavor, soft mouthfeel, hint of cinnamon, nutmeg, and earth in the finish. Mouthfeel was a little thin, and slightly fizzy. Decent and drinkable. arventresca (334), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Mar 8, 2009 Tap. Black with the little brown foam for a head. Nice bodied and aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Taste was very enjoyable. This was the top dog of the brewery tour in my opinion. Would definity buy if seen out in the store or on tap. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 20, 2009 On tap at the Charlotte airport. Creamy tan head. Nice roasty aroma. Black as coal, attractive nifty look about it. Dirty water roasty flavors. Friendly finish. Liked this one. rugbydude05 (280), Kew Gardens, New York, USA Jan 17, 2009 on tap at CLT during a layover. Pours a black opaque color. Typical sweet chocolate caramel aroma. Taste was remarkably dry but a very smooth palate. Only mildly sweet. Nice variation on a good brew. rcasta (472), El Salvador Jan 11, 2009 En el aeropuerto de charlotte por lay over. Es el bar de la cerveceria. Esta es oscura como guiness y cremosa. Se pasa un poco de mi gusto por dark ales pero buena stout. Asi las prefiero biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Oct 25, 2008 This really looked and smelled the part, but the finish left me wanting more. Pretty good flavor upfront, though. Had this on tap after a brewery tour. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Oct 4, 2008 On tap at the Charlotte airport...this must be the only place they’re selling it! Dark brown colour and a tan head. Roasty, oasty nose. Lots of nice fudge on the palate, mild roast. Full oaty sweet body, but it’s still pretty easy drinking. kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2008 Draught at the Charlotte Airport Carolina Beer Company outpost. The other ratings really surprise me on this one.
Opaque dark brown that shows red brown at edges. Small creamy light tan head. Mild roasty aroma. A bit watery in the mouth, roast flavor with little malt body. Light, uninspiring, bland. Little lingering besides a bit of astringency.
