Mine was walnut brown and clear with a slightly nutty aroma. Smooth and delicious. Incredibly quaffable, yet hints at some sugary kick to it. Overall, nutty and mild. bhensonb (4376), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 28, 2008 Bottle at Cambrinus in Brugge (though they really had to search long and hard for it). Near cola aroma. Dark amber color with a small off-white head. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. Flavor is mixed. Oak. Caramel. Floral hop. It’s very nice. The finish is dry, lightly bitter. Each taste seems mundane, then transforms into something satisfyingly tasty. It’s not the best beer ever, but it’s extremely good in a laid back way. jazz88 (2239), San Francisco, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2008 Tap @ Toronado on 4/30/08. Dark golden color with a white head. A light sugary aroma with some pear and coriander. Dry finish without much flavor. I was rather disappointed. TheBeerGod (3171), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Draft at Max’s 72 Hour Belgian Beer Fest. Called Strubbe Doebel which I can only assume was a typo. Brown bodied. Nose is different - spices, caramel, malts, yeast with some dark fruit notes. Taste is similar. Lots of spices, yeasty, musty malts, dark fruit notes and some cocoa. Body seems chalky and dry. Soft carbonation. Ends with more spices, cocoa, soft caramel and yeast. haukur (684), Reykjavik, Iceland
