As i wandered through a Food Lion in Farmville, VA during a visit to my cousin’s college, I stumbled across this classically labeled brew. Att first I thought it was a 40oz, but later discovered it was only a 32oz. Still, for a malt liquor it was not that bad. It tasted more like Miller high life and had a decent bready/corn/malted base. There is so much beer better than this a person can buy, but when it comes to malt liquor, there is also a lot worse you can do. If you’re in farmville, pick it up and feel like you’re hitting the links at a deep south country club. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

Has some of the typical malt liquor sweetness to it. Doesn’t taste too bad, ypu can really taste the alcohol. Good brew to get drunk with. My old roomate used to buy a few 40’s of this every night. It’s like getting reaquainted with an old friend. An old smelly sleazy friend. This is the beer that I always ordered when visiting the South of the Border Pedro’s Coffee Shop. I suppose that my favorite thing is the "XXX" logo inside a little red oval on the label. Pretty potent still, aroma of mostly alcohol but the taste has a strong skunky sweetness with no body. A six of this will get you where you’re going real quick. Originally "Goetz’s" Country Club made in St. Joe, we can still find vintage empty bottle around here in antique stores. Why is this beer not being marketed in the KC/St. Joe area? What a lost retro opportunity! Prostman (1077), Pennsylvania, USA

Taste was watery, but fairly non-offensive for a malt liquor. Corn and faint malt flavors. Not as tereible as I expected! loweredsixth (942), Fresno, California, USA

The aroma was an unpleasant mix of corn, vomit, and sweet malt. The flavor was just as bad without as much vomit. Crisp feel...a little slimy. GreyHipster (12), Hemet, California, USA

This is MALT LIQUOR and should be served in that spirit. Load up a tumbler with ice and fill up with malt liquor..good stuff! Here in Riverside County, Country Club is only available at Stater Bros. supermarkets. $3.49 for a six-pack of pounders. Also very good with V-8 juice. Ernest (4491), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | May 30, 2003 Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), trace hops (herbs), with a hint of DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Wow, it's nicely balanced with bitterness and reasonably clean tasting apart from a little grainy character.
