RBESG05 (1973): Unfortunately past its prime. Big rubbery cardboard nose with some road there too. Fortunately the flavour still has some chocolate and raisin notes, along with some sherry. Soft oily feel, but still too old.

Bottle, 1975. RBESG-07. Aroma: chocolate, tar, licorice, thick body, bit acidic. Flavour: Bit acidic, loads of chocolate, tar, leather and all in all thick for being such old beer. Long, thourough bitterness. Bottle, 1973. RBESG -05. Muddy dark brown. Vineous of course with port notes. Mouthfeel is as weird as S.A Triple Bock, soy sauce-like but a bit papery and thin-ish. Very vineous with notes of port. Cellary feel. Felt old. He....

Bottle. 1973 version. Dark brown with no head and very little carbonation. A bit sour aromas with elements of coffee and gunpowder and damp, most cellar aromas. Taste is very good. Chocolate and coffee and a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottled @ RBESG2005, vintage 1973: Pitch black coloured. Almost no head. Prunes, alcohol, chocolate and some burnt in the nose. Flavour is pruny as well. Somehow it feels a little dusty. Roast, burnt, light chocolate is there. This 32 year old beer is quite good.

Vintage 1983, wow this beer is older than me! Sweet nose of prunes, raisins and some alcohol. Jet black body, completely still and no head at all. Quite sweet flavor, raisins. Nice one, but i think its too old.

1989. Ebony pour, calm, still. Extremely oxidized nose, woody, vinous. Very complex fruitiness, plenty of grapes, marshmallow sweet aspects, mushroomy vegetal damp earth undertones. Very salty, soy-lkike. Sourish vinous palate, once again very salty, very woody, intense vegetal aspects. Surprisingly still some hops in there, powerful smoky oxidized finish. Medium bodied, rather slick. Interesting, I don’t think this is one of the great vintages, but I’d love to try one with less oxidation.

Bottled 25cl 1983 vintage, alc. 9.5%
Real opaque black (black as the night), small expresso head. Dark chocolate, roasted nose. Full-bodied - thick as tar. Chocolate, tar, roasted malts in the flavor. Ageing has propably added some earthy elements. Long roasted, a bit sugary aftertaste with some licorice. Masterpiece.
