Opaque brown body with low tan head. Dark chocolate, soy and raisin flavour meld with a strong roasty bitterness. Medium-full body with low carbonation. Bottle (1989 vintage) sampled at the post RBSG hotel room festivities. Vintage 1973 sampled at RBESG had some similar flavours but oxidation was far more advanced. Nose of cheat grass like hops, light pine, some oak and sherry. Lots of fig and well rounded malty notes dance with the yeast and alcohol. Damn, this is good. Light acidity and roasted cherry notes. I’m impressed how well this stood up to the age; it’s almost older than I am! Thanks Alex!
