On tap at Liar’s Club in Alpine with Katie after a strenuous day of good old-fashioned mountaineering / rock climbing on El Cajon Mt. Tried alongside with my favorite Western Burger. Black center with maroon edges and little signs of carbonation. Aroma is somewhat weak, but with noticeable tones of caramel and toffee. Fruity flavor of clove and raisin with a hint of smoke and dark grape juice. Medium body and a very sweet finish.

May 27, 2008 Hazy dark brown. Raisiny, slighlty woody aroma with hints of molasses. Toasty character with some gutted chocolate malts and an interesting anise note. Sweetish, plummy finish.

May 3, 2008 At brewery, draught. Dark woodsy brown color. Smoke, game meats, and other complex aromas. Similarly complex flavors with lots of peat. Very smooth and silky. This one is going places.
