Spiced base flavour with a solid caramel malt presence and mild bitterness towards the finish. Caramel lingering into the far finish yet with a constant dry spice note. The aroma is sweet with a strong spicy note of coriander and more, with an underlying note of caramel. The flavor is sweet wtih notes of caramel on which is a strong note of spices with coriander being strongest. Dogbrick (2260), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 8, 2008 Sample at San Diego Brewing Company. Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin beige head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of yeast, malt and light peppery hops. Medium-bodied and clean with flavors of yeast, fruit and spices. Sweet caramel malt undertones as well. The finish is spiced with a fruity aftertaste. Aroma was hoppier than expected with a goo amount of caramel malt balance. Flavor wasn’t quite as hoppy, which was a bit surprising based on the aroma. Flavor was good and well balanced. Caramel and toasted malt with some vanillal and spices. A really good version for the style.
