Oakes (6776), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 11, 2008 Murky amber. Big, bright caramel nose with white pepper. Caramel malts to the fore with earthy accents and hints of vanilla. Somewhat minerally finish.
bluemeow76 (685), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2008 On draft at San Diego Brewery. Nice and smooth, caramely thick with brown sugar. Well balanced. alexanderj (1170), Roanoke, Virginia, USA Jun 13, 2008 On tap at SD Brewing Company; poured a really nice reddish color. Aroma was hoppier than expected with a goo amount of caramel malt balance. Flavor wasn’t quite as hoppy, which was a bit surprising based on the aroma. Flavor was good and well balanced. Caramel and toasted malt with some vanillal and spices. A really good version for the style. Beershine (1059), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 23, 2008 Updated: Apr 24, 2008Draught @ Hamilton’s, SD. Served in tulip. Deep ancient, antiqued hues. Not much lacing. Good balance with sweet caramel and nutmeg. Solid. Some unripeness. Off-dry. Slight smoke. Genuinely good.
