DJMonarch (6036), Northwich, Cheshire, England Feb 4, 2006 1. Cask Handpump at the Station Buffet, Stalybridge 01/05/2003
Amber coloured with a reddish hue. Slightly sweet. Some bitterness in a full malt finish.
2. Cask Handpump at the Penny Black, Northwich (JDW) 25/02/2004
Copper mid brown colour. Some sour fruit flavour. Bitter full malt finish. chriso (4683), London, Greater London, England Feb 21, 2004 Deep red/brown colour. Served too cold to get much of the aroma, A balance of malt and bitterness on the palate, but can't say I noticed the Oregon hops too much. A robust and rather rustic ale, but quite pleasant, if unexceptional. Cask (handpump), Lord Moon of the Mall (JDW), Whitehall, London SW1.
Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England Feb 15, 2004 Cask Conditioned, at the Head of Steam, London. Amber with a lacy white head. Very well balanced. Sweet malts transition through to decent bitter finish. Very impressed with the condition of this beer. The Head of Steam is a top notch Free House with 8 hand pumps (7 beer + 1 cider). SilkTork (4155), Rochester, Kent, England Feb 8, 2004 JDW Maidstone. Good condition. Perfect temperature. Brown red colour. An initial malt sweetness is quickly balanced by dry almost tannic hops that lead into an earthy bitterness in the finish. Nice, but not my thing. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA May 17, 2002 Deep ruby red with floral aroma. Some spice flavor at the beginning, nice sweet malty middles. Dry finish.
