Commercial Description:
The first pilsner was brewed in 1842, over a hundred years ago, in the Bohemian town of Plzen. Revolutionary at the time, it was a fired-brewed beer characterized by a rich golden colour, sweet malty flavour and an abundance of hops. Our brewmaster visited the Czech Republic to study their methods and in honour of our 20th anniversary we are proud to share his interpretation of this classic beer style. Similar to original pilsners, our direct fire brewing process and combination of specialty malts yield a beer with a deep golden colour and delicious malt flavours. Natural spring water creates a soft pure background on which Czech hops impart a fresh fragrant aroma and bitter finish.

Pours a deep golden straw color with a moderate head. Grassy aroma overall, fainter traces of peppery hops and earth. Pretty full and slightly sweet flavor or pepper, dirt, hay, a sweeter than normal pilsner malt flavor. Good spicy and flavorful hop finish. Beer felt plenty full for the style and had lots of flavor.

473ml can poured into a Pilsner glass. Poured a golden yellow color with a white head that disappeared in a couple minutes. Smells of grassy hops and some malt sweetness but overall I found the aroma is a little too light. Tastes of bitter hops with some malt sweetness. Finish is bitter but not in a good way on my taste buds. Average carbonation with a light crisp feel. The one can went down pretty quick but I can’t see myself drinking more than a couple due to the aftertaste. It’s ok but I’d rather have Creemore’s Lager instead.

Hoppy aroma with a bit of malt, amber, pours a fair sized white head, some lace also. Flavour is malt, some decent bitterness, biscuity. Clean, crisp, balanced and bitter. Very nice offering. Happy Anniversary!

A nice orange amber colour with a small head that is quickly disappearing. It is fragrant, flowery, and lightly hopped with a weak, soft carbonation. Overall, nicely done and true to form. Fresh-tasting with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. However, the malts do give off a corny feel in the finish, often seems a little too sweet or cheap...

(Rating #1360)

Can courtesty of Tuqueboy from the LCBO. Golden yellow body with a small creamy white head. Floral hops and a light musty note to the aroma. Similar floral hops in the flavour, moderate bitterness throughout. This is an adequate, fairly mainstream pilsener, and I am not a particularly big fan of the style, but it does beg the question of why they bothered to make this when their regular lager is more interesting if it has been served fresh. <P> This marks my 400th Ontario Rating!!! Counting the numbers is silly, but some of them are meaningful to me and this is one of them since I actively sought out the beers of my home province, and planning weekends around travel to the many breweries and brewpubs around Ontario. Anyways, it is a small thing that I will revel in nonetheless, and I look forward to many new local beers.

473ml can, bright yellow gold color, with a rocky white head, with a piney floral hop nose, with some cedary and coniferous accents, with some herbal spicy notes, and some sweet pale malts in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good clean saaz flowery hop character, with some leafy, grassy and cedary hop flavors, a subtle mintiness, crisp pale malt, leading towards a hoppy, dry finish.
