Tap @ Brewery during a Jazz Fest weekend. Dark mahogany color with a laced brown head. The chocolate and malts made for a nice full flavor but not too thick. The malty aftertaste was balanced and enjoyable.

Rootbeer brown. Creamy crosote, sweetish with a hazelnut and chocolate trail. Nice weight for New Orleans. Long roast bitter finish. Some sulphur in the backwash.

Draft... Clear, mahogany lager with a large, frothy, off-white head. Good retention and ink-blot lacing. The nose is fairly nondescript, but holds some very light notes of chocolate. The flavor is well-bittered. Astringent with lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. Leaves the mouth bone-dry.

This is a good beer, but it gets a slightly lower ranking because I don’t think it quite fits the style of a true dunkel. It is not over hopped, a good thing, but the use of chacolate malt is a little over powering for this style. Solid beer, good for drinking at the end of a meal, dry enough for oysters, but solid beer.

Draught at Crescent City Brewery, New Orleans.
Dark brown beer with a small tan head. Full aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Same in the flavor with some hops also. Nice and tasty.

a growler from the pub. pours black with a nice tan head thatingers for a bit. roast malt and chocolate aromas. chocolate and roast malt flavors. little hop bitterness butthe bitterness from the roast malt suffices for balance. full flavored but rather dull for a darker beer. dry enough for raw oysters at Cresent city but not exceptional.

Pretty close to Rød Tuborg. I was almost crying when I consumed this one. It was like the good old days in Denmark. NIce balance between the malt and the hops. Nice and bitter and sweet. Great beer.
