a very dark lager indeed-almost guiness color. aroma primarily of black malt. flavor is very dry, and over-balanced to the roasted notes. it does serve as a good food beer.

NIce, dark lager. Very light on hops, high in malt as the style dictates. Will visit again should I ever go back to NOLA.

Draught: This was a brown color with hints of red to it. The beer was fairly clear. The nose was pretty much devoid of hops. There was a hint of roastiness, as well as a malt sweetness to the nose. The beer itself was closer to a medium body than a full. Probably a result of the fact that it never gets too cold down in "Nawlins". Some hints of chocolate and roastiness to the taste. Mostly a sweet, malt taste with little or no hops.

According to the description of this beer on that annoying sampler tray sheet, this beer is of the "mohogany" style. Wow, I think this is the first "mohogany" beer I've ever had. Not a bad beer, it had a nice creamy mouthfeel to it, just not enough boldness in the flavors, just watery chocolate and caramel, just plain boring.

A pleasant dark lager for what it's worth, as the style are sometimes hard to come by.. It's a southern brewery's version of a cold weather brew. A bit too malty for my liking, with virtually no distinguished hops presence to balance out the flavor. However, it did compliment my rilled chicken sandwhich pretty well.

Chocolatey, sweet, caramel nose. Deep red/brown color with white head. Funny, off, olive oil tastes. Slightly chocolatey, hints of caramel and soy sauce.

Clear and deep brown with red highlights. Roasty and toasty; only a slight burntness. Rather watery at times. Overly acidic, sour and tart. Weak backbone.
